Tournament Checklist

Pre-Tournament

Book hotel room(s) for team, friends, and family.

Get directions to Belleville West High School from Illinois OotM website.

Order Illinois State T-shirts to be picked up at the State Tournament.

Print the competition schedule from the Illinois OotM website & highlight your team's times.

Print the Media Release form from the state website and have students and parents complete.

Determine what kind of transportation you will need for both people and props. Ask the team to make preparations for packing props to prevent damage or forgotten items.

Ask the team to review the required paperwork for their problem and prepare extra copies of the Style Form, Cost Sheet, and any additional paper work required within the problem rules.

Meet with parents to discuss arrival times and the competition schedule, review Outside Assistance, and answer any open questions the parents may have.

Have the team prepare an 'emergency repair kit' with any extra materials and supplies that the team may need if their props need to be repaired on competition day.

Tournament Day

Register your team(s) at the Registration Desk immediately upon arrival. The Registration Desk will be open at 8:00 am.

Locate your competition site and designated loading/unloading area for your problem.

After arrival and unpacking, team members should check all materials shipped for damage and repair immediately.

Remind your team members & parents about Outside Assistance to ensure that all parts of the solution, including getting into costume, preparing forms or repairing props, are done by the team members.

Notice the signage indicating the direction and flow of the teams and the spectators at your problem site (notify parents/supporters).

Report to your Long-Term Problem site no later than 15 minutes before your scheduled competition time.

Let the Staging Area judge know your team is present.

Check into the Spontaneous registration desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled Spontaneous time.

Remind your team that they will not discuss their Spontaneous problem with you, each other, or anyone else, as this could potentially harm their score.

Obtain your team's scores as soon as your problem's Head Judge indicates they are ready to be picked up.

Review your scores (with or without your team - optional); return to Head Judge with any questions within 30 minutes of picking up scores.

Have a GREAT time!

Post-Tournament

Obtain your scores once posted for public viewing (scores will also be available online).

Obtain your averaged Style scores from the Style Score Retrieval Desk.

If advancing to World Finals: you MUST attend the World Finals Coaches meeting immediately following the awards ceremony.

If advancing to World Finals: each member of your team MUST have an Illinois state shirt - order the necessary amount.

If advancing to World Finals: your team needs to place their pin order before leaving; submit before leaving the competition site.

Even if not advancing to World Finals, this is your last chance to order shirts and pins at the low team cost.

Drive home safely and join us again next year!
